Alpha Program

ALabama Program Against Harmful Addictions (ALPHA)

The ALPHA program at Hartselle Medical Center is an inpatient medical stabilization program. The service accepts appropriate adults, 18 or older, who are experiencing problems, intoxicated, or are experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms from certain drugs. It consists of a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient detoxification, which typically lasts 2 to 4 days. The inpatient stay includes the following aspects:

• Crisis Intervention
• Assessment
• Pre-Screening
• Admission
• Detoxification
• Appropriate Discharge Planning

ALPHA has a fully qualified treatment team which includes a Medical Director and nursing personnel who utilize a multi-disciplinary team approach in the individualized treatment of each patient.

Upon admission to the Hospital assessments of the patient’s fundamental needs are detected through Physician oversight and daily visits. These assessments include a medical history, physical, a complete laboratory workup and a nursing assessment.

Patients who are under the influence of chemical substances, and/or other medical co-morbidities, will be closely observed and detoxified. The Hospital accepts appropriate patients who are experiencing problems and incapacitation due to substance use and/or abuse, or are experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms from cessation of use of certain substances.

The service accepts Medicaid, Medicare Insurance and most managed care plans. Detox provided

Detox provided for:
OxyContin, Lortab, Vicodin, Percocet, and other Opioids. Xanax and other Benzodiazepines. Alcohol withdrawal.

Directions to Hartselle Medical Center Outpatient Services

From Interstate 65:

Take Hartselle Exit 328. Take AL-36/Main Street West and proceed for approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto Sparkman Street N. and travel .2 mile.

Turn left on Pine Street to Hartselle Medical Center.

Traveling North on Highway 31

From Falkville:

Turn right onto Main Street/AL-36 and proceed for .4 mile. Turn left on Sparkman Street and proceed for .2 mile. Turn left on Pine Street to Hartselle Medical Center.

Traveling South on Highway 31(From Decatur):

After passing Lowes Home Improvement Store on the right take a left on Sparkman Street N. and proceed 1.2 miles. Turn right on Pine Street to Hartselle Medical Center.
